Believe it or not, I think spring has sprung. Winter was crazy and now we want the weather for the rest of the year to be uneventful...... that is a wet spring with a dry, hot, sunny summer and fall. I’ve placed my order, since it’s early in the season, I think I’ll get it. We all deserve good weather after the last several months.
In the vineyard, the buds will soon start to swell as they get ready for bud break. Once the buds break, the work begins. That’s when I start my spray series. I generally have to spray every 10 days however last year it was much more often as the weather was less than cooperative with far too much rain. By the end of May there will be leaves everywhere and by the end of June you won’t see anything but long rows of vines. If you want to learn more about the vineyard, don’t forget to call Carole and sign up for Vineyard Day for June 5. It’s always lots of fun, you get to meet a lot of different people and learn about the vineyard portion of the process as well. Carole makes her vineyard burgers every time and theyíre something to talk about.
In the winery, we just finished Barrels on the Brandywine and once again it was successful. Thanks to all of you that came to visit us during the event. We look forward to seeing you throughout the year too. Our evening concerts under the Big Top will start June 25. We have a lot going on this year so get your calendar out and save the dates for all our 2018 Events!
