The Winemaker
Welcome to Kreutz Creek Vineyards and Winery. We grow 13 varieties of grapes on 8 of our 20 acres. We will be planting more grapes in the future to completely cover our property in the beauty of the vines.
The nurturing of the grapes begins in January when we start to prune. Pruning is one of the most important jobs in the vineyard because thatís where we establish the proper fruiting level for the vine. It usually takes about 3-4 months to complete the pruning — just in time for bud break in mid April.
One of the biggest things I focus on in wine making is the fruit. It is difficult to grow good grapes in Pennsylvania so I take extra steps to ensure the best characteristics of the grapes are unveiled in the wine. Some of the steps I take are leaf removal and shoot positioning during the summer months. Iím a certified wine judge so I use my knowledge and skills to ensure the wine is a superb quality product.
At this time, we make 18 wines. They range from Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc and Bordeaux varietals to Niagara and Steuben, Vidal Blanc and Chambourcin to Sparkling Wines, Ice Wine, fruit wines and Port. See our wine list for a complete listing with prices.
Come to the winery or visit one of our locations and enjoy the regional wines that were produced and grown in Southern Chester County.
